RAISING DAY

INTRODUCTION

National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Services Organisation comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth – ‘The Leaders of Tomorrow’ – into disciplined and patriotic citizens. The genesis of the NCC can be traced back to the First World War when the Britishers created the University Corps as the second line of defense and to have a large pool of trained youth available for employment into the Armed Forces.

After independence the present day NCC under the Ministry of Defence came into existence on 16 Apr 1948 through NCC act XXXI, 1948. NCC was formally inaugurated on 15 Jul 1948 as soon as the schools and colleges reopened after summer vacation. The Girls Division of the NCC was started in Jul 1949. In 1950 Air Wing was added on 01 Apr with one Air squadron each at Bombay and Kolkata. The Naval Wing of the NCC was raised in Jul 1952, thus completing the true representation of all services in the Corps. Presently, NCC has approximately 13 Lakhs Cadets under its fold.

IND NCC JD COY : NCC training is compulsory for every cadet in Sainik Schools. The cadets are awarded with a NCC ‘A’/‘B’/’C’ certificates by the time they pass out from the school, which can be of  immense advantage to them. A JD NCC Indep Coy has been sanctioned by NCC Directorate (MP & CG), Bhopal on 08 Sep 10 vide their letter No. MP & CG DTE/SS Ambikapur/60004/P&C/CORR dated 08 Sep 10.   One JCO and two NCOs are posted on a regular basis to the NCC unit.

NCC RAISING DAY

The NCC Raising Day was celebrated in Sainik School Ambikapur on 08 Sep 2012. Shri Pravir Kumar Das, IPS and Superintendent of Police Surguja was the chief guest. Along with the chief guest Alumni of Sainik School Rewa were also present on the occasion.

The whole area was spruced up nicely to befit the occasion. The Cadets presented march-past with a school band on the arrival of the Chief Guest Shri P K Das, IPS. Shri Das was all praise for the march past out up by the Cadets. On this occasion Shri Das has congratulated school authority, staff and Cadets, being a infant school each and every presentation was up to the mark and the school has set up the standards in the state. The celebration was concluded with sweet distribution to the Cadets by the Chief Guest and the Principal Capt (IN) G Rambabu.
