An alumnus of Delhi University and JNU, Colonel Reema Sobti was an archeologist, prior to Joining the Army, and has excavated at the famous Harappan sites of Dholavira and Rakhgarhi. She was commissioned into Indian Army in 2001 and is not only Gold Medalist of her course but also amongst the first 10 lady officers to be selected for permanent commission in 2010. With a service experience of more than two decades, the officer has a rich service background and served in various field and peace locations in different parts of the country across North East and Jammu and Kashmir.
She has served as UN military observer with united nations peace keeping forces at Congo and led the Indian contingent in the joint Indo-Nepal Women Officers' 'Ecological Himalayan Trek' conducted in Nepal as a joint adventure activity between the two nations.
Being in the Army Education Corps, she has a rich experience of education management in armed forces and has served as an instructor in the prestigious Officers Training Academy Chennai and at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun as well as Rashtriya Military School Bangalore. She assumed the appointment of Principal Sainik School Ambikapur recently in July this year.
She has been awarded with three service commendation cards for distinguished service in Indian Army in 2008, 2013 and 2018 respectively and young achievers award 2022-23 for service to the Nation by YFLO of FICCI.
